Dominican Woodblock / Linocut printmaker & artist, César Peña, has been passionate about art from an early age. He began experimenting with different mediums until he discovered his interest in traditional printmaking. On his journey he has been learning by research, trial and error. 

Coming from a family of woodcarvers, he has been developing his own techniques and skills - applying them to his printmaking process to cultivate a distinct visual language. His prints are inspired from his Taino, Dominican and African roots. 

He enjoys working with raw materials such as wood because he feels more connected to nature and his childhood. 

César Péna is currently working out of his small, home-based studio in N.Y.
